jay’s big green egg

jay recently became the proud new owner of a big green egg bbq grill/smoker. i have to say, the thing is impressive. and the pork shoulder and brisket he cooked on it was amazing. his homemade bbq sauce and “mustard sprinkler” didn’t hurt either.

end of the retreat season

caitlin had a party at her brooklyn apartment to celebrate the end of the season of retreats. in addition to the usual debauchery we also enjoyed a “balance the whiffle ball bat” game which went on for at least 45 minutes. i got some good practice trying to focus this new lens in low light [...]

after soccer, reid and i went to zinc bar in the west village to see eric lewis’ trio. this is one of the smallest jazz clubs i’ve ever been to; probably holds about 45 people. halfway through the set roy hargrove showed up and played some trumpet which was a nice surprise. [...]
