warriors beat the suns

warriors fans

saw the warriors smack down phoenix on monday with the crew from work. they got off to a rough start but have bounced back nicely.

sharks vs. kings

sharks & kings

saw my first hockey game in san jose last weekend with jay. unfortunately the sharks lost 2-1.

thanksgiving

thanksgiving 2007

had a nice relaxing thanksgiving day at oliver, reba & andy’s. tasty food all around.

jay’s big green egg

brisketjay recently became the proud new owner of a big green egg bbq grill/smoker. i have to say, the thing is impressive. and the pork shoulder and brisket he cooked on it was amazing. his homemade bbq sauce and “mustard sprinkler” didn’t hurt either.

grove street stompers

pete balance

went to see the grove street stompers at arthur’s tavern on one of my last nights in new york. apparently these guys have been playing here every monday night for a long, long time..

end of the retreat season

ryan caitlin allison mike

caitlin had a party at her brooklyn apartment to celebrate the end of the season of retreats. in addition to the usual debauchery we also enjoyed a “balance the whiffle ball bat” game which went on for at least 45 minutes. i got some good practice trying to focus this new lens in low light (with mixed results).

day trip to new haven

kicking & splashing

on saturday i joined mike & allison for a quick trip up to connecticut to see oliver’s home town and have dinner with his parents. nice to be on the east coast in the fall..

coney island swan dive

mark in lights

went to see the excellent coney island swan dive on friday night at parkside lounge. funny & beautiful country covers of all your favorite songs.

new lens

reflection portrait

got a new 50mm f/1.4 lens for my camera so that i can take shots in low light.

goodbye daylight savings time

the scream

went out with friends from dickinson & san francisco last saturday to, uhh, celebrate the time change. this can make for a very late night.

eric lewis with roy hargrove sitting in

roy hargrove & eric lewis

after soccer, reid and i went to zinc bar in the west village to see eric lewis’ trio. this is one of the smallest jazz clubs i’ve ever been to; probably holds about 45 people. halfway through the set roy hargrove showed up and played some trumpet which was a nice surprise. i’m not a huge fan of his more recent stuff but in this setting he was great.

this past weekend i declared an end to these blurry photos and bought a new 50mm f/1.4 lens. no more blurry low light shots. well, not quite as blurry anyway.
