took a detour to flavigny-sur-ozerain, france during our barge trip for a “culture unit”. this is where the movie “chocolat” was filmed and you can see why: each twist and turn through this tiny town reveals another perfect french medieval scene. i think i took 300 pictures in 30 minutes.

spent a few wonderful days on the barge trox, cruising slowly up the burgundy canal in southwestern france. not sure why they let me drive but luckily i didn’t smash into anything.

had a great time in munich, including this wonderful bike ride we took through the city (with a few beer garden stops along the way). i think munich is the most bike-friendly city i’ve ever visited.

went to ascot for the king george horse races while we were staying in london. it was a nice hot day and a classically british outing. pimms was consumed along with copious champagne and the spiciest salted beef sandwich i’ve ever eaten. our friends from london & brighton were excellent hosts.

snapped this after a long night out, capped off with some italian delivery. always good to catch up with old friends.

had a great time with the team back in brighton in july. was lovely to see everyone again and spend some time at the oh so and the ha-ha. apparently the weather before we got there was dreadful and the weather since we left has been worse. guess we were lucky.

took this while camping the night before my near-death rafting experience. things seemed so calm and peaceful then..
was lucky enough to catch the tall firs, my friends from brooklyn, at cafe du norde right before i took off for europe. they put on a great show, as usual.
went camping in point reyes last week and took a series of long exposures + strobes after it got dark at camp. my fellow campers turned out to be very willing models.
my good friend nick was deported. why we are sending home irish phd computer scientists (and protecting illegal immigrant crack dealers) is beyond me. anyway, hopefully he’ll be back in 12 months.
finally caught owen’s band, the guitar zeros, at el rio last weekend. they play real music with guitar hero controllers (owen reverse engineered the signals coming out of the controllers). cool stuff.
