a few times a week, hundreds of birds gather in the tree behind our neighbor’s house around sunset and then all fly off together, as if on some secret signal. i took this one evening as they all flew off towards the city. just prior to their departure the chirping hits a fever pitch, then a brief moment of silence, then they all fly off together.
